What is Hormonal Therapy (HT)?

Treatment targeted to prevent the interaction between the hormone estrogen, and the Estrogen Receptor (ER) (and also progesterone and the progesterone receptor) expressed on the breast cancer cells, is termed as Hormone Therapy. Endocrine Therapy will be a more appropriate term for this, since it involves intervention towards a hormone. But hormone therapy is a more commonly used word, so we will stick to that. To prevent this interaction, we can act at various levels:

Which patients should receive Hormonal Therapy (HT)?

All patients who are hormone receptor positive, must receive hormonal therapy. There can be various permutations depending on the whether both the Estrogen Receptor (ER) and the Progestoerone Receptor (PR) are positive, or only one is positive.
